Drugs of Natural Origin. In memory of professor emeritus Gunnar Samuelsson 1925 – 2024

Generations of pharmacy students know Professor Gunnar Samuelsson from his text book in pharmacognosy. But what was it that kept his interest for the field alive for almost half a century? This symposium in memory of Gunnar will focus on his research, and how aspects of his research lives on.

The symposium aims at an audience with general interest in pharmacognosy, and with a special interest in the development of research in the field at Uppsala university. The special research interests of Gunnar will be in focus, namely mistletoes, peptides, and traditional medicine. Talks will be in English and Swedish, and be on both popular science and advanced levels.

The event will be moderated by Professor emeritus Lars Bohlin, and speakers include Docent Per Claeson, Farm Dr Sonny Larsson, pharmacy students Anas Slaii och Lydia Sanharib and Professor Ulf Göransson.
